Areas of Specialisation:

Elena is a Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist with experience in outpatient and inpatient settings. She trained in Neurology and Psychiatry and is specialised in the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of disorders including developmental & intellectual disabilities, early neurodevelopmental disorders, autism, learning disabilities and ADHD. In particular, she has more than 10 years of clinical experience in assessment and diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder and early intervention.

Elena also has strong clinical experience and interest in adolescent Psychiatry, in particular regarding early onset psychosis, anxiety disorders, mood disorders, social withdrawal and internet addiction. She is focused on providing a culturally sensitive approach to neuro-developmental difficulties and mental health challenges. Elena likes to work in an integrated way as a team with children, families, schools and the community.

If necessary, she can prescribe medications and integrate the pharmacological approach to Psychiatry alongside Psychotherapy.

Professional Qualifications and Registrations:

  • Degree in Medicine from University of Udine (Italy)
  • Residency in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry and Neurology from University of Turin (Italy)
  • Licensed Consultant Child Psychiatrist in Italy
  • Member of SINPIA, Italian Society for Child & Adolescent Neurology and Psychiatry
  • Licensed Child Psychiatrist in the State of Qatar

Previous Experience:

Elena has worked as a Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist since 2014. Most recently she spent seven years working as a Consultant Child & Adolescent Neurologist and Psychiatrist in the Child & Adolescent Mental Health Outpatient Service of Monfalcone in the north-east of Italy. The service is part of the University of Trieste training network. She worked with young people from 0-18 years of age with developmental, behavioural and psychiatric issues.

She has a variety of international professional experience including working with refugees.
