Richard is a Consultant Orthopedic Surgeon who diagnoses and consults on physical issues and orthopedic injuries throughout the body including hips, knees, pelvis, spine, foot & ankle, shoulder, elbow and wrist. He is skilled in treating joint and muscle pain through medications, steroid and hyaluronic acid injections, as well as by prescribing physical therapy & rehabilitation programs.
As a surgeon, Richard is highly specialised in hip & knee replacements (hip & knee arthroplasty), both primary and revision procedures. He has been specialising in these surgeries for more than 20 years, and has performed them thousands of times in accordance with the latest guidelines.
Richard qualified as a Consultant Orthopedic Surgeon in 2002. He spent the first few years of his career working in the Trauma & Orthopedic departments of teaching hospitals in Sweden and the Netherlands before moving to work in the National Health Service in the UK for more than 15 years. He has a special interest in lower limb arthroplasty and hip fracture treatment, managing a large and varied surgical caseload.
Richard has contributed to more than 20 published research papers, taught at the Teaching Academy of Birmingham University Medical School, and acted as an Educational & Clinical Lead in multiple Trauma and Orthopedic services.
