Assistant Psychologist / Counsellor

Salmaa is an Assistant Psychologist working with children, adolescents and young adults. She focuses on assessing and managing mental health conditions in young people, providing a warm and inclusive space by empowering children and young adults, using techniques including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), acceptance commitment therapy (ACT), as well as play therapy.
She works with individuals experiencing developmental-related issues such as low self-esteem, adjustment disorders and emotional regulation, as well as behavioural and mood disorders such as anxiety, depression, perfectionism, anger and stress management. With an empathetic and open approach, she prioritises fostering a meaningful and supportive bond with each individual.
Salmaa is also experienced in conducting psychoeducational assessments and diagnostics for behavioural disorders, ADHD and learning disabilities (i.e. dyslexia, dyscalculia).
Salmaa joined The International Medical Centre from the Netherlands, where she was working closely with expat children & families as a Master’s Psychologist providing behavioural management training and solution- focused therapy. She also led group therapy for university students, providing support for issues related to low mood, stress and loneliness. Her previous experiences and client group prioritises culturally sensitive therapy.
