People seek psychological assessments for many reasons, including concerns about learning, attention, behaviour, communication, emotional well-being or social development, or simply to better understand their strengths and difficulties.
Our experienced Psychologists provide comprehensive assessments for children, adolescents and adults, covering cognitive, developmental, learning, behavioural and emotional functioning.
Depending on individual needs, we may recommend a psychoeducational assessment, a psychological assessment, or a combination of the two. Psychoeducational assessments focus on learning, attention control, cognition and academic skills, while psychological assessments focus on emotional, behavioural and psychological functioning.
Assessments can help parents and schools better understand a young person’s learning, development, attention, behaviour, emotional well-being and social functioning.
We provide specialist assessment for:
Assessments may consider cognitive and academic abilities alongside developmental history, behaviour, emotional functioning and the child’s experience at school.
Where appropriate, we work closely with schools, SEN teams and other healthcare professionals regarding learning support, classroom accommodations, exam access arrangements and Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
Adults may seek an assessment because of difficulties with attention, learning, organisation or social communication, concerns about emotional well-being, or simply to gain a better understanding of themselves.
Assessments may explore:
Assessments can help clarify how cognitive, emotional or behavioural difficulties may affect work, relationships and everyday life, and provide practical recommendations for support or treatment.
Every assessment is tailored to the individual and begins with an initial consultation to understand the concerns, relevant history and goals. Further assessment may include clinical interviews, standardised testing, questionnaires and behavioural or developmental assessment.
For younger children, this may also include play, informal observation and age- appropriate activities. For older children, adolescents and adults, the process may combine discussion with formal standardised assessment.
Once complete, the Psychologist will review the findings and meet with you to explain the results and recommendations.
You will receive a clear explanation of the findings and, where appropriate, a comprehensive written report with practical recommendations for home, school, university, work or further treatment.
Our aim is to provide a clear understanding of the individual’s strengths and needs, together with practical guidance on what to do next.
