Áine is a compassionate Counselling Psychologist who employs aspects of various therapeutic approaches including Person-Centred therapy, Cognitive Behavioural therapy, Acceptance & Commitment therapy, Compassion Focused therapy and Mindfulness based approaches to provide a bespoke and collaborative therapeutic intervention.
Áine is also trained and experienced in delivering Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR), which is an innovative and effective clinical intervention specifically for difficulties arising from traumatic events and adverse childhood events. In summary, her way of working is always patient-centred, prioritising client needs in order to help them achieve their desired treatment goals.
Áine has valuable experience in a variety of settings including as a Senior Counselling Psychologist in National Health Service hospitals in the UK, where her substantive roles included working with emotional difficulties due to chronic long term physical ill-health and more recently, helping individuals affected by cancer.
She also has extensive experience working with mental health difficulties in community practice, both in private practice and NHS clinics. Áine has also continued her distinguished academic career, serving as a Professional Development Tutor and an Associate Lecturer on the Doctoral program at Glasgow Caledonian University.
